(and why “fake it ’till you make it” isn’t a lie)
Let’s talk about confidence.
Not the loud kind that puffs up a résumé or dominates a room just to feel in control.
I’m talking about the real kind.
The kind that whispers —
“Go ahead. Do it anyway.”
Even when your stomach’s doing backflips.
Even when the voice in your head is being a dick.
Even when you’re terrified they’ll all figure out you have no idea what you’re doing.
My definition of confidence?
Believing in yourself so much that you take the forward actions you feel compelled to take to bring you closer to your dreams — regardless of your fears, doubts, current circumstance, or the peanut gallery of naysayers.
Notice I didn’t say confidence is “knowing everything.”
Or “waiting until you feel ready.”
Or “only moving forward when you have receipts to prove you’re worthy.”
Confidence isn’t about certainty.
It’s about movement.
It’s about making decisions from the version of you who already has what you want — and acting accordingly.

I remember sitting on the floor of my living room, laptop open, bills piled next to me, wondering if I was absolutely delulu for thinking I could build a business that not only paid the bills — but lit me up.
There was no perfect roadmap. No five-step plan that magically dropped into my inbox. Just a small, persistent voice that whispered: “Do it anyway.”
So I did.
I did “the thing” that scared me (“the thing” varied at times…) I wrote the post, sent email, made the ask.
Pitched the offer.
Showed up to the call, heart pounding, pretending I wasn’t terrified.
That’s what confidence looked like for me in that moment. Not some flashy TED talk energy, but a shaky “yes” and a deep breath.
And you know what?
That version of me… the one who dared to act before she felt ready — is the reason I’m here now — 13 years later, writing this book and inviting you to co-create what’s next in your life too.
Unpopular opinion: “Fake it till you make it” actually works.
Before you side-eye me, hear me out.
I’m not suggesting you lie, exaggerate, or front.
I’m saying: you might not feel like the expert yet. You might not see yourself as the leader. You might feel like an imposter, a fraud, a fluke.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t show up as someone who believes it’s possible.
When I say “fake it,” I’m not saying “pretend.”
I’m saying practice.
Embody.
Try it on.
Walk like her.
Talk like her.
Create like her.
Pitch like her.
Price your services like her.
And eventually — that future version of you becomes your present.
Confidence, then, is not a destination.
It’s a daily decision.
A muscle.
A habit.
A spell you cast and recast until it sticks.
So today —
Instead of waiting to feel confident…
Choose to be courageous.
Act in alignment with the version of you who’s already living the dream.
Not because you’re faking it.
But because you’re becoming it.

This hits me right where I am right now. So thank you!
I’m so glad it helped but also ugh, I know how much this spot can suck. Let me know if there’s a particular aspect you’d like me to dive deeper into in a future post.
