(And that’s actually great news)

Are you the driver of your business and life? Or simply a passenger, hoping someone else knows where the hell you’re going?

Too many brilliant women are sitting on the sidelines of their own story, thinking that eventually things will fall into place.

🚨 Bwoop! Bwoop!
Spoiler alert: “eventually” is not a strategy.

And while it’s totally human to wish for a helping hand or a fairy godmother with a working knowledge of spreadsheets, the truth is this:

No one is coming to save you.

Not your partner (financial support can vanish overnight).
Not your business partner (you’ve still gotta do the work you said you would).
Not your team (they’ll never care about your business more than you do).
Not your friends (they’re not your therapists).

Here’s the part I don’t always share publicly:

There was a moment when I hit what I thought was rock bottom…

It was 2am. I was curled up in bed, laptop glowing in the dark, trying to hold everything together with basically digital duct tape and a recovering-Catholic prayer.

I remember staring at that screen, a few dozen browser tabs open, each one a different flavor of “how to get more clients,” my chest tight with the kind of dread that makes your fingers tremble on the keys.

I kept telling myself I was “hustling” — that all this late-night, caffeine-fueled chaos was just part of the grind. I fell prey to quintessential bro-phemisms in my early entrepreneur era: No pain no gain, hustle harder, win or go home, “move fast and break things”. 🤮

But the truth?
I was waiting.

Waiting for…

  • A magic webinar from a 7-figure “guru” to drop a single, mind-blowing insight that would turn it all around.

  • An employee to finally read my mind and solve the problems I didn’t have the courage to face.

  • My fear to somehow magically vanish, as if I could think my way out of the discomfort of actually doing the work.

And the worst part? I didn’t even see it for what it was.

I convinced myself I was “busy,” when really, I was just distracting myself by filling my days with what I now call productive procrastination (a topic for another day).

I thought I was being scrappy and relentless. But I was just avoiding the hard stuff — the decisions that actually move the needle. The ones only I could make.

And when no one divinely stepped in?

That’s when it clicked:
no one else was going to fight for this dream harder than me.

So what’s the alternative?

You stop waiting. You reclaim your power.
You become the CEO of your life — not just the unpaid intern of your burnout.

And! There’s science behind why this shift matters.

Your Brain Was Built for This (Let’s Rewire It)

When you keep repeating a pattern — say, avoidance, procrastination, over-depending on others — you reinforce those neural pathways. Your brain literally learns that “this is how we do things around here.”

But when you choose to take action (even small, imperfect action) you activate your prefrontal cortex (she’s the decision-making, boss-energy part of your brain) and begin to rewire old patterns. You train your nervous system to tolerate discomfort, trust your inner authority, and build resilience… one teeny tiny decision at a time.

Neuroplasticity is real and it’s on your side.

But only if you get in the driver’s seat.

⚡️ Today’s Spark

Here’s a quick journaling exercise to get things moving:

Write down the answers to these four prompts:

  1. Where am I waiting for someone else to save me?

  2. What am I afraid might happen if I actually took the lead?

  3. What patterns or stories do I keep repeating — and what are they costing me?

  4. What’s one brave (but doable) action I can take today to break the cycle?

If your brain is already trying to talk you out of this — that’s your cue.

Let’s interrupt the pattern together.
